Current college students with a valid ID may purchase a Grip-EQ bag at the reduced, college student-friendly price of $185!

Along with the Grip-EQ bags, the Sun King Disc Sports Mobile Disc Golf Superstore will feature thousands of discs, collectibles, bags, apparel and accessories along the 11-day swing through the southeast.

Monday 3/11/2013 - Sun King Disc Sports has announced the Tour del Sol - 2013 Southern Spring Swing, an 11-day tour throughout the southeast culminating at the sold out, 640 player, Amateur Championships at Bowling Green KY. Other cities along the way include Gainesville FL, Thomasville GA, East Ridge (Chattanooga) TN and Nashville TN. Sun King will run it's popular low entry fee, flex start doubles events in all the cities except East Ridge TN, where a 1-day, PDGA-sanctioned B-tier tournament aptly titled the Challenge at Camp Jordan will be held at Camp Jordan Park, home of the newest Disc Golf course in the region.

Friday 3/8/2013 - The Sunshine State Shootout Doubles Championship has been postponed due to a lack of committed registrations. Several factors, including tournament fatigue and a higher than normal entry fee (due to the use of golf carts) prompted the owner of Ridge Manor Oaks and event management to make the move to reschedule the event.

A new date is being discussed and a target of mid-June is being sought. A lower entry fee is expected along with less tournament competition.

- The final 2-day Tour del Sol Showcase Event of the season went down as the Silver Springs Shootout in Ocala. This event is one of Florida's favorite with two of the most unique courses in the state. This set the stage for players in attendance to get one last grab at Tour del Sol points. The format was the same as the past few years with (2) rounds at the Greenway Course on Saturday and (1) round at the spectacular Pine Oaks Course. As with tradition, the top (8) pro players participated in the annual "shootout", a head-to-head match play styled post tourney event that, this year, awarded $500 to the field. John E McCray was victorious in what was the shortest shootout contest on record, winning $200 in a mere (4) holes!

John E McCray also won the MPO division in dominant fashion with a 19-stroke victory over runner up Bryan Moore. Michael Paulette, Jr. held off not one, but two, of the Lenkiewicz brothers to win MPM. Chris and Shawn finished in second and third place respectively. A total of (91) players came out and enjoyed a great weekend of Disc Golf action. Other divisional winners included Pam Reineke (FPO), Corey Osgood (MA1), Kris-Ann Carduff (FW1), David Muntean Jr. (MM1), Tom Johnson (MG1), Gary Johnson (MS1), Harry Bowerman (ML1), John Strickland (MA2), Tommy Shipman (MA3) and Tiffany Maddy (FW3).

Monday 9/26/2011
- The 2011 Tour del Sol finished up it's final weekend in Pinellas County with stops at Youth Park in Pinellas Park and John S. Taylor Park in Largo. Both tournaments were the first ever PDGA-sanctioned events at the respective courses.

Youth was served at Youth Park when Calvin Vo edged the legendary CR Willey in extra holes in the pouring rain to win the MPO division. Chuck Lee squeaked by Chris Maddy in MA2, a match that also went to extra holes. Other division winners include Nick Babare (MA1), Mike Guilliame (MA3) and Tiffany Maddy (FW3).

The biggest turnout of the year for a Tour del Sol 1-day event came in it's last 1-day event of the year. A solid showing of (71) participants came out to Taylor Park in Largo. The Sand Slugs were wonderful hosts feeding all the players and then some. A brief stint of hard rain had a slight impact, but overall the mood and playing conditions were great.

Johnathon Matthews, from Sarasota, held off a solid field of competitors by shooting a 49 (-5) in the second round and scooted by with a 1-stroke victory over Bryan Moore in MPO. Nick Babare claimed his second win of the weekend in MA1 with a 6-stroke gap between Adam Lamotte's second place finish. Larry Grossman clipped "old schooler" Mike Schweitzer in extra holes in MG1 while Ryan O'Rear held off (24) participants in the MA2 division, the events largest division. Other winners were Terry Clark (MM1), Renee Sargent (FW2), Rick Romine (MA3) and Tiffany Maddy (FW3).

The scenic John S. Taylor Park in Largo, FL and the local Taylor Lake Sand
Slugs disc golf club will play host for the 2011 Tour del Sol Finals event.

Monday 9/12/2011 - The Tour del Sol finished the last eastern Florida leg with a stop at Wickham Park in Melbourne and a first time stop at one of Orlando's newest courses, Airport Lakes Park. It was a special weekend and all participants at both events were given an American flag in remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and a moment of silence was conducted in the honor of the victims.

The drive down south to Melbourne proved bountiful for the "Daytona crew" as Jamie Ruane and Terry Hild took first and second place respectively in a relatively large field of (10) Open Men (MPO) contestants. Pawel Hanczaruk continued his solid play with a 7-stroke win in Advanced Men (MA1) and Candy Roque shot the best in a strong field of (4) Advanced ladies (FW1). Other division winners include Lee Brantley (MA2), Tiffany Maddy (FW2) and Bryan Edwards (MA3).

The hot weather and day of remembrance likely affected turnout, but a small, yet dedicated group came out to the first PDGA-sanctioned event at Airport Lakes Park. The course is less than a year old and, as expected, still has a few "rough" areas, but offers up great promise as a challenging course that will test your accuracy. Gregg Hosfeld shot a solid 97 to win the Pro Men (MPO) division by 13 and the young Daniel Pastore, Jr. pickes up his second tournament victory of 2011 in Intermediate Men (MA2). Other division winners include Mary Barletta (FW1) and Chris Lamb (MA3).

Monday 8/29/2011 - The software issues that were plaguing the IRegisteredOnline.com website have been fixed and the online registrations for 2011 Tour del Sol events 12-16 are now available. The final leg include stops in Melbourne (Wickham Park), Orlando (Airport Lakes Park), Pinellas Park (Youth Park), Largo (John S. Taylor Park) and the final showcase event, the Silver Springs Shootout in Ocala.

Monday 8/22/2011 - The inagural PDGA Global Tournament was a huge success in Orlando! (85) players came out to participate in this truly unique event and overall, the Florida players represented very well including (9) pros who cashed in the Global Tournament payout. In the amateur ranks, it would be hard to argue against the best performance going to Tony Pert from Miami. Not only did he win the "local" Intermediate Mens division (MA2), he also won MA2 in the PDGA Global competition and earned himself a paid spot in the upcoming PDGA Championships and a qualifying spot at the USDGC! Other local division winners include John E McCray (MPO), Pam Reineke (FPO), Chris Lenkiewicz (MPM), Steve Bremer (MPG), James LeBaube (MA1), Candy Roque (MA2), Mark Janssen (MM1), Tony Pert (MA2), Tiffany Maddy (FW2), Felix Tan (MA3).

Saturday 8/6/11
- Tour del Sol #11 is probably the most unique event on the 2011 Tour del Sol schedule and it is the inaugural PDGA Global Tournament. The progressive format includes the typical local course competition and payout between local players, but all Pro divisions along with Advanced Men (MA1), Advanced Women (FW1), Advanced Masters (MM1) and Intermediate Men (MA2) will have their raw scores converted into round ratings which then get uploaded and compared against other players from around the world at fifteen different tournaments! The Pro divisions will be eligible for an extra, seperate PDGA Global payout while the qualified Advanced and Intermediate divisions will all receive a PDGA Global players package with two discs and a DVD valued at nearly $30!

The only PDGA Global event location in Florida is in Orlando at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake and will go down August 20th & 21st. Thursday 7/7/11
- Next weekend is our bay-area swing, the Tour del Sol #9 at Maximo Park in St. Petersburg (Saturday, July 16) and the Tour del Sol #10 at Lakeview Park in Sarasota (Sunday, July 17). Maximo Park has a pretty big following and offers some unique challenges. The following day at Lakeview Park will be a great time. The Sarasota Sky Pilot’s Lakeview "crew" has made constant improvements to the course, now featuring the Red Course - short tee boxes that reduce the chances of landing a disc in the water. They’ve also added new pin locations for even more variety and shot making.  In addition, they’ll be fundraising to install a new practice basket near hole 1. Expect to see a lot of birdies at Lakeview Park along with owls, hawks, wood-peckers, cranes, herons, and many other species! The Tour del Sol #10 event at Lakeview Park is limited to 72 players.

You can register for both events here:  http://www.iregisteredonline.com/events_detail.php?et=1

Monday 6/6/11 - Yesterday was the 7th event on tour, at one of our favorite courses, the Pine Oaks Golf Course in Ocala.  Most players played the 18-hole layout from the white pads, which still provided a challenge with plenty of distance. Team Discraft member Bryan Moore took the title, edging out the talented Open Mens division over fellow teammate David Muntean III. Ron Howell cashed in 3rd place, with Johnathon Matthews in 4th. It took extra holes to decide the Advanced Mens division, with Shaun Edson winning his first PDGA advanced event over Jason Sutter on hole one. Mike Schweitzer (PDGA #252) won the Advanced Masters division with a healthy lead, other division winners included Harry Bowerman (Advanced Legends), Trevor Murphy (Intermediate), Candy Roque (Intermediate Women), Ben Curet (Recreational), Tiffany Maddy (Recreational Women), and Zach Waln (Novice). A big thank you to Bob & Carolyn Giese who provided a tasty pulled pork sandwich lunch and donated proceeds to our fundraising partner, the Educational Disc Golf Experience (E.D.G.E.) program.

Saturday 6/4/11 – The tour winded through DeBary at the River City Nature Park today.  The scoring was close and it was course designer Gregg Hosfeld’s hole-in-one that proved the difference winning the Open Mens division by one stroke over Daytona’s Shawn Lenkiewicz. The only Advanced division was the Legends and won by true gentlemen Paulie Bagwell. The Intermediate Mens division was taken home by Brant Crain over 12 competitors. The Recreational Mens division featured 10 players and was won by Andrew Wells. We we’re thrilled to have five ladies competing at the Tour del Sol #6 event, with Mary Ann Barletta winning the Intermediate Women and Tiffany Maddy winning the Recreational Women.

Monday 5/30/11 - Thank you Sarasota! We had a great time with the back-to-back Tour del Sol Showcase events in beautiful Sarasota. TD Tim Willis and fellow Sky Pilot volunteers made this yet another successful tournament; as always the SSP Food Committee girls provided a tasty lunch both days.  These were the 15th annual tournaments in Sarasota. Once again every player got the opportunity to play two rounds at the Bobby Jones Executive Golf Course, which measured in at 7,100 feet. Everyone also played two rounds at North Water Tower Park. New for this year was the leaderboard for the top players in each division. The Sky Pilot Open and the Sarasota Amateur Championships events featured 141 players in 13 divisions from Pro Open to Novice. Congrats to the following divisions winners: Gary Nilsen (Novice), Rich Pence (Recreational), Kathy Ambrus (Intermediate Women), Nate Spisak (Intermediate), William Morris (Adv Senior Grand), Mike Schweitzer (Adv Grandmaster), Kris Knight (Adv Women), Pete Brady (Adv Master), Spencer Marshall (Advanced), Bob Buchan (Pro Grandmaster), Gregg Hosfeld (Pro Master), Pam Reineke (Pro Women), and John McCray (Open).  Thank you everyone who participated at our first of four Tour del Sol Showcase events.

Thursday 4/28/2011 - SCHEDULE/VENUE CHANGE - Great news! Tour del Sol #4 in Miami has been moved from Indian Hammocks Park in Kendall to Greynolds Park in Miami. Players will be able to compete on a temporary course designed on the Greynolds Park Golf Course and then enjoy the Love In Music Festival afterwards! Entry fees include two rounds of Disc Golf, some food and drink and a ticket to the festival. This unique opportunity is a collaborative effort between Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation, local Disc Golfer George Alvarez and Sun King Disc Sports.

REGISTRATION OPEN - Online registration is now up for Tour del Sol #3 - Palm Beach Gardens, Tour del Sol #4 - Miami, Tour del Sol #5A & 5B - Sarasota, the first of four Showcase Events on this year's tour and the Daytona Open, which is Tour del Sol #8, the second Showcase Event. The Sarasota weekends are split up with all Pro divisions, Advanced Men & Women and Advanced Masters playing on 5/21 & 22 and the remaining Advanced divisions along with the Intermediate and Recreational divisions competing 5/28 & 29. Please also note that the Sarasota events are using the PDGA Online Registration services and not the IRegisteredOnline.com website.

Tuesday 4/26/2011 - Stop #2 at the Lutz Executive Golf Course was the first ever PDGA-sanctioned event at the facility and went a long way to introduce the course to players that had never played there before. The unusually hot weather combined with the challenging terrain and lengthy holes made for some tough scores. Paul McBeth, ranked 10th in the world, shot a remarkable 91 winning the Open Mens division by 11 strokes over Gregg Hosfeld. Other division winners include: Nick Babare (MA1), Candy Roque (FW1), Chris Maddy (MA2), Mike Guilliame (MA3) and Tiffany Maddy (FW3). For complete results visit the PDGA website. The Cigar City Brewing "Closest to the Beer" contest continues to be a popular post-event fundraiser and helped the 2011 Tour del Sol to raise another $93 for EDGE, bringing our total to $234 for the first two stops!

The 2011 Tour del Sol kicked off in solid fashion at Floral Park in Floral City. 41 players from as far as Jackonville, Tallahassee and southern Georgia rolled into town for the first of twelve 1-day tournaments. The sun was out all day but the afternoon offered players some fairly windy conditions, making it a bit more difficult than some may have expected. Dave Muntean III won the Open Mens division by one stroke over Ron Howell while Carmello Aleman won the Advanced Mens division, giving him back-to-back victories at Floral Park dating back to the 2010 Labor Day Luau last September. Other division winners include: Adam Brown (MM1), Buz Ryalls-Clephane (MG1), Harry Bowerman (ML1) Chris Maddy (MA2), Jeff Liddell (MA3) and Tina Hicks (FW3). For complete results visit the PDGA websiteDon Curry banged into a tree on Hole #7, but it was no problem as his disc ended up in the basket for the tourney's only ace worth $108. A total of $141 was raised for EDGE, including $59 on the Cigar City Brewing "Closest to the Beer" competition where for a $1 per throw, players had a chance to win a 6-pack of Jai Alai IPA or the Maduro Brown Ale. Jack Hicks was closest and chose the Maduro Brown Ale and "aceman" Don Curry was second closest winning the Jai Alai IPA. The Tour del Sol memberships and points will be updated after event #2 in Lutz on 4/23.

Monday 3/14/2011 - The Tour del Sol is happy to announce it's supporting sponsors for 2011. Returning from the first two years are Innova Disc Golf, Keen Footwear and Maui Jim Sunglasses and new for 2011, Tampa's own Cigar City Brewing has jumped on board and will be adding some great value for tour participants while helping raise additional funds for EDGE! The Tour del Sol is a much better series because of our sponsors, please patronize them when given the opportunity.

Tuesday 3/1/2011 - The Spring Fling on the Suwannee with Zach Deputy has been cancelled due to a lack of registration. The concert and a non-sanctioned tournament will still take place. The handful of players that registered will receive a refund. Please see the revised 2011 Tour del Sol schedule for changes. Sun King Disc Sports will try to run this event again in the future either with a different format, different location, or both.

Monday 2/7/2011 - Welcome! The Tour del Sol website is live! Feel free to check out the new Tour del Sol website, it's chock full of information and will be the "go to" place on the web for all things Tour del Sol.
